On Wednesday, June 9, 2021, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan visited Minnesota Community Care’s community COVID-19 vaccine clinic at Neighborhood House in the Wellstone Center. Her visit spotlighted the crucial role that community healthcare centers play in confronting inequities in vaccine access — particularly prominent are racial disparities in vaccination rates.
Our team at Minnesota Community Care works to consistently address barriers to vaccinations. By organizing weekly community vaccine clinics at the Wellstone Center, as well as pop-up clinics throughout the greater Twin Cities area, we provide dependable and convenient vaccinations to community members. With a team that is culturally and linguistically diverse, we provide a space for reliable information and respectful counsel. By principle, our clinic advocates for individuals’ sense of agency and their ability to make the best decisions for themselves. We recognize the deep impact that community-based healthcare has on the physical and mental wellbeing of our communities through building trust and lasting relationships.
Over the past few weeks, our COVID-19 response team has vaccinated over 1,040 patients at the Wellstone Center. This is made possible by strong partnerships with fellow community organizations like Neighborhood House.
